The IDC has two parts: the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Most dive professionals complete the entire IDC and then attend the Instructor Examination (IE) to earn a PADI Instructor certification.
Completing the AI course alone qualifies you as a PADI Assistant Instructor. When ready, you can progress to the OWSI program and then the IE to become a full PADI Instructor.
Instructors certified by other organizations may enroll directly in the OWSI program, recognizing prior training and providing a path to becoming a PADI Instructor.
Prerequisites:
- PADI Divemaster with an entry-level certification for at least six months
- 100 logged dives
- Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) training within the past 24 months
- Medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months
- Emergency First Response Instructor rating (can be earned during IDC)
The IDC prepares you to conduct all PADI core courses. You’ll learn to organize and present information, conduct skill sessions, and oversee open water dives, enhancing your public speaking and instructional skills while ensuring student diver safety.

Online and classroom theory along with PADi system seminars and Standards review.
POOL TRAINING
Confined training in pool and shore area.
OPEN WATER DIVES
All our open water training is done either form a boat or from our private house reef.
